WW_B25_AircelRetailAwardGoing from strength to strength, offices at the Indian Telecomms giant Aircel have been abuzz with excitement this week, with news that they have won an award for retail excellence. Having worked with them closely for nearing two years, we have helped increase their customer base from 8 million to a staggering 30 million people. With such a success rate, our work with Aircel continues to be hugely rewarding.

WW_B24_INQPressAdAs part of the ongoing work we do for INQ, WHAM recently art directed a photoshoot in London’s East End. Personifying this exciting new social networking savvy company, press campaigns are launching throughout Italy and Singapore in magazines such as Grazia, Cosmo, Jack 21, Mens Health and Flair, with presence in the UK to follow.

CEO at INQ, Frank Meehan featured on the Radio 4 programme The Bottom Line last night, to discuss their new, affordable internet brand phone. Take a listen here, from 7:23 minutes in.

WW_B23_CowboyWe rounded up a posse and rode into town to meet the guys and gals at The Bank, for a Christmas Carry On themed shindig at Koko. And my what a night, with free drinks a plenty we danced til the wee hours, surrounded by naughty nurses, wayward doctors, Egyptian beauties and suchlike before riding off into the sunset. Boots, chaps and cowboy hats…. nothing else matters.

TweetwhamtweetCall this a little gratuitous advertising, but we wanted to mention our two Twitter feeds, which we hope you will enjoy.

The first is WHAM Agency, a Tweet by folk at WHAM that is about all manner of things we like, what we do, where we travel, and what we think may be of interest to our clients and colleagues.

Second is Inside WHAM, an internal feed which you are welcome to join that focusses on, er, those of us who work inside WHAM. Thanks to inhouse social guru Ros, it contains lots of what’s happening in and around London and in and around our office.

Visit WHAM Agency and Inside WHAM.

FloatItsWHAM’s Darren Edwards spoke yesterday at the Mobile User Experience 09 conference in London. In the opening presentation of the conference, Darren spoke on the subject of “Who Controls The User Experience” when developing mobile sites and applications. Along the way he managed to squeeze in some lessons learnt when developing products and concepts while heading up 3 Australia’s UX team in the early days of 3G, as well as more recent projects for Indian telco, Aircel, and SABMiller’s Grolsch (see The Mark).

WW_B22_Choccie_TastingSome Whammers went to taste chocolate from around the world along with various drinks. Rums from Trinidad, special liqueur from Ecuador amongst the favourites. Everyone agreed Venezuelan chocolate beans are best – which is just as well as our guide and WHAM copywriter Steve is the connoisseur and confirmed our palettes were right!

1 Malaysia

WW_B20_Hari_RayaWorking in Malaysia means WHAM absorbs lots of local culture. The Government there is promoting a big programme of “1 Malaysia” to help keep harmony amongst the various cultures. When we were there last it was Hari Raya – and lots of lovely lights in celebration.

WW_B21_Grolsch_CelebrationFollowing a week of last minute work, WHAM launched the new site www.the-mark.org for client Grolsch. Fitting of a Friday afternoon, glasses were clinked and giggles had. Built with our partners The Bank and Supernative, “The Mark brings together the best of the web selected by mavericks from all walks of life. Start discovering the most exciting online content, bars and events tailored to your interests and passions”. Take a peek.

WW_B19_InstantPossibilitiesIn this digital world it’s nice to see that many are clinging tight to the analogue past. Indeed, amongst the analog-o-rati, the new status symbols are bespoke paper note books, pens, even that 80s icon, the Filofax. With the closing of the last Polaroid instant film factories last year, it should come as no surprise that there is a scramble to re-invent the closest thing the analogue world ever had to digital “instantness”. WW_B18_RainOrShineWhile the rains in Delhi poured last week, dropping some 50% of the city’s annual rainfall in a single night, the WHAM team were busy working on all manner of things for our client, Aircel. Amongst the activity was brand strategy work, a full agency work review, and the presentation to the senior management team of some TOP SECRET digital work we’ve been beavering away at for some months.
